Let’s talk about something most people overcomplicate… AI prompts.
In a recent Zoom training, Mario Aldayuz (Head of Partnerships at HL Pro Tools) dropped some 🔥 insights that had the whole room rethinking how they’re communicating with Voice AI in HighLevel.
The truth? AI doesn’t need to be “smart” — it needs to be told exactly what to do.
Think less “Iron Man’s Jarvis” and more “tech-savvy toddler who follows directions literally.”
And if you’re using HighLevel’s Voice AI — or plan to — you need to nail your prompts. Here’s why 👇
Why AI Gets Confused (And How You’re Probably Causing It)
Ever tried giving a toddler three instructions at once?
“Hey buddy, grab your shoes, turn off the TV, and get your backpack.”
What happens? Chaos. 🤯
Same goes for Voice AI.
If you overload it with overlapping prompts, vague commands, or try to be “cute” with your language, the AI’s going to go rogue. Or worse — completely freeze in the middle of a client call 😬
Mario broke it down beautifully during the session:
“The more linear and logical your prompt, the better AI performs.”
What You Should Actually Be Doing
Here’s how I personally build prompts that don’t suck — and how we recommend you approach it if you’re supporting clients:
✅ Think step-by-step:
Break down your prompt like you’re building IKEA furniture. One action at a time.
✅ Use ChatGPT to draft:
Yup, use AI to write for AI. Run your voice prompt ideas through ChatGPT and say “Write this as a clear, conversational instruction for Voice AI to follow in HighLevel.”
✅ Format it with markdown:
Keep your structure tight. Use bullet points, headers, and bold keywords. (AI loves that stuff.)
✅ Test it before going live:
Always run it through a demo workflow or sandbox account first. AI bugs on a real client call = nightmare fuel.
Real-World Example: Booking a Salon Appointment
Let’s say your client owns a salon and you want Voice AI to handle phone bookings.
🧠 Here’s the wrong way: “Welcome to GlamHaus Salon. We do a lot of things. You can book haircuts, blowouts, or facials. What do you want?”
👎 AI brain explodes. Too many paths. No clarity.
🧠 Here’s the right way: “Hi, thanks for calling GlamHaus! Are you looking to book a haircut, facial, or blowout? Please say one of those three options.”
🎯 Clear. Linear. Unambiguous. That’s what wins with AI.
Bottom Line
You don’t need to be a prompt engineer or data scientist to make Voice AI work inside HighLevel. You just need to:
- Be direct
- Stay structured
- And test like your reputation depends on it (because it kinda does)
And if you want help building this into your agency’s workflows — or white-label support to take it completely off your plate — that’s exactly what we do at HL Pro Tools.
