Let’s talk about one of the most overthought (but important) parts of onboarding in HighLevel: the Launchpad.
Yep, that little menu of integrations and to-do’s that shows up in subaccounts.
Is it helpful? Sometimes.
Is it annoying? Also yes.
Should you turn it off? Probably not (unless you really know what you’re doing).
This came up again during a recent Zoom call with Mario Aldayuz (he heads partnerships at HL Pro Tools).
We were deep in the weeds on advanced setup stuff when the Launchpad question popped up. Mario dropped some 🔥 advice—and I’m gonna break it down for you here.
What Is the Launchpad Anyway?
If you’re newer to HighLevel, here’s the deal: the Launchpad is like an onboarding wizard that helps clients get their account rolling.
It walks users through:
✅ Connecting Google Business
✅ Hooking up Facebook
✅ Setting up a calendar
✅ Turning on reviews and webchat
Basically, all the key integrations clients need on day one.
Why Do Some People Want to Disable It?
Some agencies feel the Launchpad:
- Clutters the UI 🧼
- Creates confusion if they want to onboard clients a different way
- Feels too “HighLevel-branded” for their white-label flow
I get it. You want control. You want a streamlined, on-brand experience. But here’s the thing…
Don’t Kill It Just to Look Smart
As Mario put it on the call, “Unless you really know why you’re turning it off, leave it alone.”
Here’s why:
- 🧩 Launchpad doesn’t do anything shady—no surprise billing, no rogue automations.
- 🧠 It reduces support questions from clients who would otherwise ask you how to connect Google, Facebook, etc.
- 💸 Customizing it takes time and technical work (and honestly, most clients aren’t bothered by it at all).
If you’re managing 50+ subaccounts with custom onboarding flows, then sure—we can talk about disabling it strategically. But if you’re turning it off just to look fancy? That’s a trap.
If You Do Want to Customize…
Mario shared a workaround: You can technically replace the Launchpad using a Google Sheet script that deploys a custom web app.
BUT—and this is a big but—it’s fragile. It breaks easily, takes dev work to maintain, and doesn’t really save you time unless you’re automating at scale.
So yeah… fun project if you’re a tech nerd. Not worth it for most agencies.
TL;DR – What You Should Do
Here’s the short version:
✨ Leave the Launchpad ON unless you have a very specific reason to turn it off.
✨ Use it to your advantage—let it do the heavy lifting for setup.
✨ If you do go custom, be ready for bugs, maintenance, and extra dev time.
Remember: simplicity scales. Fancy doesn’t always mean better.
