The other day, I hopped on a Zoom with Mario Aldayuz—Head of Partnerships at HL Pro Tools and basically the AI tamer of the HighLevel world.
We had folks from Progreda, GHL Engine, and The Syndicate on the call, and we got deep into AI-powered automation inside HighLevel. Let me just say… if you’ve ever screamed “WHY is my bot saying that?!”—you’re not alone.
This post is all about why AI bots sometimes act like toddlers with sugar highs… and how to train them like pros. Let’s dig in. 🛠️
The Problem: Your Bot is Hallucinating
HighLevel’s AI is powerful—but like any new tool, it needs direction. Otherwise, it starts making stuff up.
We’re talking about stuff like:
- Quoting made-up prices 💸
- Offering services you don’t even have 💅
- Responding with “Sorry, I’m just a bot 😅” when someone asks a basic question
Why does this happen? Simple:
AI doesn’t “know” anything. It mirrors what you feed it.
So if you’re feeding it a mountain of random docs, out-of-date SOPs, and 18 versions of your pricing sheet from 2021… yeah, it’s gonna get weird.
The Fix: Train It Like You’d Train a New Hire
Here’s what Mario shared—and what I’ve done in my own agency to clean up AI confusion:
✅ Keep your prompts stupid-clear.
Think: “Here’s exactly what to say when someone asks X.”
No fluff. No guessing.
✅ Ditch bloated docs.
One Google Doc. That’s it. Use headers. Keep it tight.
Example:
- 🐶 Services We Offer
- 💰 Pricing Basics
- 📍 Location Info
- 📅 How to Book
✅ Avoid uploading pricing (unless you really have to).
Most bot screwups? It’s bad pricing info. If your pricing changes, leave it out—or just say: “Pricing varies. We’ll share exact details during your consultation.” Done.
Real-World Example: The Dog Grooming Bot
One agency on the Zoom had a chatbot for a dog grooming shop. Easy use case… but the bot was quoting $15 for full grooming and suggesting “doggy dye jobs” (not a thing 🤦).
The problem? They fed it 4 documents with inconsistent pricing and random service descriptions.
The fix? A one-page doc with simple FAQs and short, specific answers.
After cleaning it up, the bot stopped hallucinating and started doing what it was supposed to do: handle conversations like a pro.
The Big Rule: Less Info, Better Bot
Mario put it perfectly:
“The more you give it, the dumber it gets—unless the info is clear, relevant, and consistent.”
So keep your training docs clean. Keep your prompts sharp. And always test before going live.
Remember: your AI isn’t your boss—it’s your intern. And interns need direction.
